Get set for the Euros

The start of Euro 2024 is coming ever closer and Scotland will be taking on Germany in Munich in the opening match on Friday 14 June.

It's the first game of our march to winning the tournament outright and tens of thousands of you will be heading out to bring some noise and tartan to the games.

You'll be coming, you'll be coming, you'll be coming to the airport. But you need to make sure you've got everything ready for your trip.

Here's our handy checklist to keep you richtig (right).

Check-in and have your tickets ready - airline and match

Checking in at home is the easiest way to travel as it means you're almost ready to go as soon as your arrive at the airport, so check with your airline to see if this is available.

You might need to do this when you get here, especially if you have luggage to check-in, but again, see what your airline's advice is. Scroll to the bottom of this article if you want to see when your airline's desk opens.

Make sure you have your boarding pass on your phone or printed (do this at home as there are no printing facilities at the airport), and do not forgot your match tickets if you are lucky enough to have them.

You don't want to be *that* person...

Liquids and tablets out, sporrans off

We awake in the night with a fever...that we can't get you through security as quickly as we want as there are some hold ups. So help us help you by being prepared.

There's no changes to the current security rules so that means the 100ml liquid rules are still in place, and please remove any laptops or tablets from your bags.

Those sporrans will need to come off too. But please keep the kilts on - it's a family airport...

And please be aware that you might need to factor in a wee bit more extra time just to get everything reattached and repositioned.

Arriving into Germany...or whatever route you are taking

Whether you're flying directly into Germany or via some other wild and fantastical route, it's good practice to check the entry requirements for that country.

You don't want to be knocked out in the first round...Scotland, please take note!

The UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has a list of countries and their entry requirements on their website so give that a look before you set off - can access it by clicking here.

Health insurance

Now, we've seen over the past few weeks that the Scotland squad is coming down with a few injuries and no-one wants that. And you don't want to be coming down with anything yourself so make sure you have health insurance.

It's a staple of any trip or holiday so you should already be thinking about this but just make sure you have it before setting off.

Spend a bit of time looking to see what policy best covers where you are heading - you can use a number of websites to check what sort of policies are available.

Speak the lingo

There's no point going to Germany if you don't have some stock German phrases ready to go so we've compiled some for you.

If there's something not on the list (it's not extensive so chances are high) then you'll have translate apps on your phone that will help you. And we'll admit we've used one of them for the below so if there are errors, we're sorry!

Anything is better than speaking slowly and loudly in the hope that breaks the language barrier... 🗣️

• Championees! Championees! - yeah, no real German translation for that but pretty sure people will get the drift...

Represent Scotland well - and bring back the trophy

The most important thing is you enjoy it. It's a big tournament and it's a privilege to be able to go and watch your national team take on and beat Europe's best so keep that in mind.

We know the experience starts as soon as you arrive here and we want you and your travelling party to enjoy the trip as much as possible. Our staff and our partners are here to add to that so please behave responsibly and keep the noise down. As much as we like a song, we don't think any of you are going to be the next Sharleen Spiteri or Marti Pellow (one for the mums and dads, there).

If anyone in your party is enjoying a drink at the airport or in Germany then just make sure you're looking out for each other and keeping it within reason. You're heading there to support Scotland and showing the Euros that our reputation as fun and well behaved is exactly as they've heard.
