Driving to the airport? Travel advice to keep you mooo-ving during Royal Highland Show

In this section:

Roads near the airport will be busier than usual when thousands of people make their way to Ingliston for the Royal Highland Show between June 20 and June 24.

We're encouraging passengers to leave extra time for their journeys as the Highland Show, combined with the busy summer holiday period at the airport, means there may be some queueing traffic on routes around the airport - particularly in the west of the city.

It's also well worth considering public transport as an option to help cut journey times down, with fantastic tram and bus connections to and from the airport.

Transport from EDI

The event will take place at the Royal Highland Centre and roads are expected to be busy across the four days, however drivers should also be prepared for some delays in the week leading up to the show getting underway.

In particular the A8 Glasgow Road is likely to see queues, so anyone arriving at the airport by car is encouraged to factor this in when planning their journey.

We operate several different car parks on site at Edinburgh Airport, along with paid and free pick-up/drop-off services, and we're also well connected by public transport.

Drive up and park

With the airport busy and the peak summer months now upon us, we're urging passengers to ensure they arrive at the airport for their check-in desk opening time (you can find out when this is here).

We're also asking people to ensure they are well prepared for security so their journey through the airport is as quick and seamless as possible. Find out how to avoid some of the most common mistakes which end up causing delays at security here.
