It's been a big week at the airport as we marked VINCI Environment Day 2024 and launched our first ever Biodiversity Strategy.

Launching our first ever Biodiversity Strategy.

Our first Biodiversity Strategy is now live, setting out the steps we're taking to protect and enhance the environment around us.

This strategy sits under the airport's Greater Good sustainability strategy and looks at the ways we can help foster a species-rich future, resilient to environmental change, while the airport continues to develop.

It sets out a prioritised action plan to:

🤝 Engage local groups and staff.

✅ Enhance our current site.

🌱 Restore our priority habitats.

This strategy also looks at the history of the airport and the land the airport operates on, examining the current biodiversity across campus and assessing the challenges not just facing the airport, but the aviation industry and beyond.

As set out in our Greater Good strategy, it's important that as the airport continues to develop this is done in a sustainable way, not only mitigating any impacts on the environment around us but also improving and enhancing this environment where we can.

How we marked VINCI Environment Day.

VINCI Environment Day took place on Tuesday, September 24, and we celebrated by showcasing some of the work going on to help achieve our goals around environment and sustainability.

You'll likely have read that EDI is now part of the VINCI network of more than 70 airports around the world, and this day is held each year to share good practices and ideas across the network, and take action for the climate.

VINCI Environment Day, bus tour

We used the day to shine a light on projects we've got on the go to further progress and build upon our Greater Good sustainability strategy, while also hosting a series of workshops with our campus partners.

These included...

🌍 Sessions on our Net Zero Strategy and solar farm with members of our Energy Taskforce.

ℹ️ Talks on our waste process with colleagues from our waste contractor SWR.

🌱 Workshop on our Biodiversity Strategy.

🚌 Electric coach tour of some of our decarbonisation projects across the airfield.

Our teams have also been out volunteering this week with Butterfly Conservation Scotland, helping restore the land at Braehead Bog by removing invasive spruce.
