Travellers passing through Edinburgh Airport can now indulge in a touch of Scotland’s finest fashion following the refresh of Brora's flagship store in the departures area.
After almost a decade at the airport, Brora - renowned for its high quality cashmere clothes in vibrant and bold colours - has undergone a major transformation, offering visitors a shopping experience rooted in Scotland thanks to the company's work with homegrown suppliers.
The relaunch underscores the brand’s commitment to quality and authenticity, ensuring that visitors take home not just a piece of clothing but a lasting memory of Scotland’s craftsmanship - and founder Victoria Stapleton, who was at the airport for the re-opening, says that's something she is proud of:
Everybody should take a piece of Scotland home with them - and that is what we’ve got on offer here. They can take something that is going to last a lifetime that whoever they gift it to, is going to have it for years to come.
"It's also a really important part of what we do at Brora. This is not fast fashion in any way, it’s very much something that is timeless and something you will keep and treasure for life.
It is that commitment to 'slow fashion' that is one of Brora's core values. They have focused on high quality pieces that customers wear for years to come rather than mass-production and discounts.
The cashmere is made in Scotland at one of the oldest mills, and Brora taps into local expertise with their colour blending and design teams both sitting in house. And that results in the many different products available at Edinburgh Airport.
Victoria, who founded the company in 1993 and has overseen its growth and expansion across the UK and even New York, says the variety of items is a big draw for passengers.
We sell an awful lot of our Scottish cashmere ponchos because they’re brilliant for travelling and come in about ten colours. Our accessories also do really well here because a lot of people are buying a gift.
The Edinburgh Airport store very much is a flagship for us and for Scotland. This is where we’re going to meet and greet more people than any other shop in the country, and it’s wonderful to reach so many people through Scotland's busiest airport.
