Without question somewhere you'll want to visit if you love your history and architecture.

The hilltop city of Poitiers is home to one of Europe's oldest churches - the fourth century Baptistry which was built during the Gallo-Roman period. The structure is now used as a museum hosting some of the earliest mural paintings in France. Visitors also flock to check out the city's array of striking Gothic cathedrals, along with the stunning Notre Dame le Grande which was built in 1086 and is regarded among the finest examples of Romanesque architecture.

The charming old town is lined with narrow streets and ancient townhouses, while there are countless restaurants and cafes to kick back and relax in after a day of sightseeing.
